Dawn Breaks Behind the Eyes tells the story of a disruptive couple in a '60s gothic setting. Margot (Luisa Taraz) has inherited a castle, which is visited by her husband Dieter (played superbly by Frederik von Lüttichau). The first half skillfully delivers a psychodrama of this toxic relationship, amid the surreal castle where space and time seem to have their own rules. This summary does not even describe a small fraction of the sensation this film brings about: visual ecstasy, confusion and disorientation, but also a captivating experience you will not be able to recapitulate. A nightmarish fever dream shot on 35 mm by someone that has watched many giallos and euro-horrors.

Their music is inspired by bands such as Mgła, Dissection, Dark Funeral, and many other black metal bands. In the pure tradition of the crazy erotic neo-giallo which already characterized his old films, with "13 notes in red" François Gaillard signs his most accomplished work and shows total generosity offering a mixture of hemoglobin and sexuality on a tasty aesthetic punctuated with neon reds and leather. Suffice to say that it's been a long time since French bis cinema has produced something so enjoyable.
A man rescues a boy and later tries to get him off his back but to little avail, so they end up drifting around a subterranean world, populated by grotesque masked figures. A hundred years after Chaplin filmed his first feature film, The Kid, Norbert Pfaffenbichler offers an experimental punk-style interpretation, which the filmmaker himself has defined as a dystopian slapstick film.
This mysterious film unconventionally explores what it’s like to be a hostage of your own mind and losing the ability to resist circumstances.
