The American producer Tobe Hooper recently passed away at the age of 74. He was known for his horror movies like ‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’ (1974), ‘Eaten alive’ (1977), Salem’s lot’ (1979) and Poltergeist (1982). In honor of Tobe Hooper, BUTFF will hold a Tribute night and screen a selection of his legendary films!

Which one? That will be announced later, so until then be a little suggestive , just like Tobe Hooper was in his movies, and be there this bloody Thursday!

The second BUT Film & Music Fair will take place on the 2nd and the 3rd of September during the BUT Film Festival 2017. That's right, we added an extra day! From 12:00 till 18:00 each day. Sint Janstraat Breda. Free entrance.

Saturday the 2nd of September we will present our Bloody Belgium program at the BUT Film Festival 2017!

Richard Stanley is the award-winning South African-born filmmaker, who made a name of himself with his first feature film, the sci-fi movie Hardware (1990). A low budget movie about a mad-dog android loose in an apartment was released in 1990. Critics slammed it as a Terminator rip-off, yet the film became a financial success. The 1.5 million dollar budget was paid back quite handsomely and continuation was imminent.

The midnight specials are a real must-see for the die-hards (there is a reason they are being showed at midnight) and the BUT newbie can warm up with a BUT Light film or a Shorts Block.

Since 2008, Club 70's is on and off a special program at and around the festival. Drive-in, Grindhouse, Blaxploitations, Horror, Kung Fu, Giallo and other cult-films from the late 60's, the golden 70's and early 80's are screened the way they are meant to be screened; meaning celluloid prints in various states of decay. Sometimes scratched, sometimes dirty and with lots of splices, sometimes the colour has turned red.

Everything about BUT Film Festival, from preparation to final credits, is run by enthusiastic volunteers who wish to do their part to help the alternative film scene and the culture surrounding it. As with the films, we strive to stimulate creativity, personal development and create room for new ideas within an informal setting. All the while keeping the focus on having fun!
