Saturday the 2nd of September we will present our Bloody Belgium program at the BUT Film Festival 2017!

Richard Stanley is the award-winning South African-born filmmaker, who made a name of himself with his first feature film, the sci-fi movie Hardware (1990). A low budget movie about a mad-dog android loose in an apartment was released in 1990. Critics slammed it as a Terminator rip-off, yet the film became a financial success. The 1.5 million dollar budget was paid back quite handsomely and continuation was imminent.

The midnight specials are a real must-see for the die-hards (there is a reason they are being showed at midnight) and the BUT newbie can warm up with a BUT Light film or a Shorts Block.

Since 2008, Club 70's is on and off a special program at and around the festival. Drive-in, Grindhouse, Blaxploitations, Horror, Kung Fu, Giallo and other cult-films from the late 60's, the golden 70's and early 80's are screened the way they are meant to be screened; meaning celluloid prints in various states of decay. Sometimes scratched, sometimes dirty and with lots of splices, sometimes the colour has turned red.

Everything about BUT Film Festival, from preparation to final credits, is run by enthusiastic volunteers who wish to do their part to help the alternative film scene and the culture surrounding it. As with the films, we strive to stimulate creativity, personal development and create room for new ideas within an informal setting. All the while keeping the focus on having fun!

We are very pleased to announce that the one and only Richard Stanley (director) will be guest of BUT Film Festival 2017! Our second guest of the BUT Film Festival 2017 and BUTFF 2017 - Bloody Belgium program to announce is Steve de Roover, writer and director of Forgotten Scares: An In-depth Look at Flemish Horror Cinema (2016). This feature-length documentary goes back to the birth of Flemish horror in the '70s and shines a bright light on the future of horror in Belgium and will be screen at our festival.

That's right! The BUT Film & Music Fair is coming back and we've added an extra day! The fair will take place on the 2nd and the 3rd of September during the BUT Film Festival 2017. From 12:00 till 18:00 each day. Sint Janstraat Breda. Free entrance.
