2293. Zardoz, an unseen God who speaks through an idol, a large stone statue of a head, leads a barbaric race called the Brutals,who live a harsh existence in the Outlands. Zardoz tells the Brutals that once they die, they will be transported to the Vortex, where they will live happily as immortals. He has armed a small group, the Exterminators, with guns, as Zardoz's philosophy is that killing is good, and procreation is the root of all that is bad.
After his 007 career, the sexiest man alive was dressed up in giant red diapers, and big over-knee leather boots and told to grow a big mustache to go with his long ponytail hair. Hollywood director John Boorman directed this futuristic epic about class struggle, eternal life, and religion, in a far too serious way, giving way to giggling cinema audiences and thus creating eternal cult status.

Met een gewapende groep genaamd The Exterminators predikt hij dat voortplanting de wortel van al het kwaad is, en mensen doden goed is.
Na zijn 007 carrière werd de meest sexy man ter wereld in grote rode luiers en lange leren laarzen tot over zijn knieën gestoken. Zijn gespierde, lange lijf, grote snor en meterslange paardenstaart zouden Sir Sean Connery verder tot sterrendom brengen.
Hollywood regisseur John Boorman koos een iets te serieuze aanpak voor dit futuristische epos over klassenstrijd, eeuwig leven en religie, hetgeen tot gegiechel bij het bioscooppubliek leidde, en ZARDOZ tot cult status deed stijgen.
